About the client
As Technical Manager, you are the driving force behind our automated warehouses in Bruges. You combine technical expertise with strong leadership and ensure that our automation systems operate reliably, efficiently, and with an eye toward the future.
You will lead a technical team of 17 employees and take the lead on improvements, investments, and innovation. In this way, you will have a direct impact on the continuity and further development of our logistics operations.
About the job
Your responsibilities:
- You will lead the automation team of 17 employees. You will ensure smooth day-to-day operations, coach your employees, and support them in their professional development. In doing so, you will establish clear guidelines, encourage collaboration, and ensure that everyone fulfills their responsibilities.
- You monitor the availability, reliability, and performance of the automation systems. You analyze relevant KPIs, identify bottlenecks, and translate your findings into targeted preventive and corrective actions that ensure the continuity of warehouse operations.
- You will develop and manage a long-term plan for the technical installations and automation systems. You will determine which improvements, replacements, and investments are needed to increase reliability and support the further automation of the warehouse.
- As a technical lead or project manager, you will take the lead on technical CAPEX projects. You will oversee these projects from analysis and scope definition through implementation, delivery, and post-implementation support, while monitoring timing, quality, costs, and operational impact.
- You manage the automation budgets and work closely with teams such as operations, IT, and facilities. You gather information from the shop floor, technical systems, and internal stakeholders, and translate this into clear priorities, concrete improvement actions, and sustainable solutions.
Job requirements
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience. You have strong technical insight and combine this with the ability to think strategically and for the long term.
- You have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical management role. You combine technical expertise with a people-oriented leadership style and draw energy from coaching, motivating, and helping employees grow.
- You have strong analytical skills and can draw clear conclusions and make decisions even when working with incomplete or fragmented information. You work in a structured manner, set the right priorities, and translate analyses into actionable steps.
- You communicate clearly and know how to get employees and stakeholders on board with changes and improvements. You are fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus. Experience with warehouse automation or a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a plus.
