We are looking for a Safety Engineer for a company in the food industry located in the Charleroi region.
You play a key role in risk prevention and the development of a strong safety culture within an industrial environment. You are responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, in accordance with applicable laws and company standards.
About the job
The Safety Engineer serves as the point of contact for safety-related issues and assists employees and managers in implementing best practices. He or she monitors regulatory developments, updates safety procedures, and ensures their implementation on the job. He or she analyzes workplace incidents and accidents, identifies their causes, and follows up on corrective and preventive actions. The role also includes conducting risk assessments of machinery, equipment, and workstations; monitoring regulatory inspections, training programs, and PPE; and evaluating risks associated with chemicals, noise, and vibrations, among other hazards. The Safety Engineer organizes training and awareness campaigns, contributes to evacuation drills and fire safety initiatives, and monitors external contractors. Finally, he or she participates in safety projects and meetings and tracks actions and indicators.
Job requirements
- Master’s degree with a technical or scientific focus.
- Level 2 Prevention Advisor; a Level 3 candidate who is willing to advance to Level 2 is also a possibility.
- At least 3 years of experience in a safety-related position in an industrial setting.
- A good understanding of Belgian safety and prevention laws.
- Solid technical knowledge of industrial machinery, equipment, and facilities.
- Proficiency in French and English.
- Analytical mind, pragmatic approach, and a strong focus on the field.
- Autonomy, assertiveness, and the ability to persuade.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of people.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to translate identified risks into concrete actions.
